Romania,
is a country located at the crossroads of Central and Southeastern
Europe, on the Lower Danube, within and outside the Carpathian arch,
bordering on the Black Sea.
Romania shares a border with Hungary and Serbia to the west, Ukraine and Moldova to the northeast and east, and Bulgaria to the south. At 238,400 square kilometers (92,000 sq mi), Romania is the ninth largest country of the Euroepan Union by area, and has the seventh largest population of the European Union with more than 19 million people.
Romania become a member state of the European Union on 1 January 2007.
In the Romanian press the Romanian economy has been referred as the "Tiger of the East."
Romania is a country of considerable economic potential: over 10
million hectares of agricultural land, diverse energy sources (coal, oil, natural gas, hydro, nuclear and wind). Romania's main exports are agricultural and food products
,wines and alcoholic drinks , wood products, textiles and leather ,
industrial machinery, electrical and electronic equipment, metallurgic
products, cars , software, pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals.
